This approach concentrates on the here and now; however it does not dismiss your past altogether and we will work together to address your current issues.
It is important that a positive relationship is built in order to develop a shared outlook of the issues that need to be addressed.
Setting goals and finding ways of achieving these goals is the focus of the counselling. I will often set tasks for you to complete in-between sessions in order for you to be able to implement new skills into your life.
This approach can be very effective when working with addictions: food, alcohol, drugs, gambling and smoking.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is suitable for adults and children, both individually and in groups.
